WBD Gives Back Month Recap 2022

December 9, 2022

This November, we celebrated the second annual WBD Gives Back Month. Our values shape WBD and practicing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a reflection of our desire to leave lasting, positive impacts on people and places. With team members across the country, we have the opportunity to make connections in communities coast to coast. To this end, we set up various weekly and month-long initiatives that afforded our employees the opportunity to give back.

“Philanthropy Trivia” became a regular staple as a fun competition for employees to donate money to a charity of their choice. Employees across the firm raced to correctly answer a question. The winner of each round received $100 from WBD to donate to a charity of their choosing. This opportunity raised awareness of an extended list of causes.

Donations and philanthropy are one way to give back, but volunteering time and energy to a cause is also a vital piece. As our second initiative of the month, we highlighted WBD employees who volunteer outside of work. This allowed us to thank our WBD volunteers and encourage one another to give back. It also provided the featured employees a platform to share their experiences and raise awareness for organizations they believe in.

For those that wanted to go out in the community and stay active, WBD sponsored and encouraged employees to participate in a Veteran’s Day 5K. WBDers from across the country participated in this virtual race to get their steps in, but more importantly show their gratitude towards our Veterans.

As our last initiative this month, WBD rolled out a matching program. Five organizations were selected based off of employee recommendations for WBD to match 100% of all employee donations throughout the month. The selected organizations supported many causes ranging from climate change, to healthcare, and education.

Despite WBD Gives Back Month coming to an end, the strong mission-driven values of our employees are encouraged and will continue in their daily duties. WBD will continue the annual tradition of volunteering at the Wreaths Across America event at the Arlington National Cemetery. The people at WBD strive to do good and use their platforms year-round to impact their communities.
